Hey Arrow re: wind, was out from 5, almost no wind to start with then blew up about 11.30 - 12. - you could of got out all morn!!!
Anyway, Got a few squid tho not as easy as a couple of weeks back.
no big breeders around anyway.
Got Live yakkas and pike ok, but they were being harrassed by tailor so a bit on and off.....
Picked up some crab traps from yesterday - 5 nice blue swimmers.
chilli crab tonight 4 sure
also hooked a few kings.
most rats but two legals. Clifton best but quite a bit of surface kingy action from middle head, off the point between chinamens and balmoral, and inside seaforth bluff. Some of the rats were so tiny it was crazy!
Tagged a couple of them so if anyone gets kings with tags do your bit and get the number 4 fisheries!

gday mate i went out this morning got my yakkas the slow trolled my spike squid jig to the the boring old marker in side the heads no squid but picked up a cuttle fish and released him ,i put on my yakka and nothing for ages then bang i got busted, so i sat for ages and got nothing, i will keep trying im thinking of hitting manly bommy the head to blue fish in the morninghttp://img139.imageshack.us/img139/5564/image00145oa3.jpg

Mate FYI cuttly tentacles are one of the best most resilient Kingy baits - for next time....
glad to hear you at least got a good bust up tho!!
Bluefish should produce some bigger fish for you.

btw just cooked my sweet chilli crab on the bbq
harbour crabs r beautiful to eat - so sweet

I dont tag fish anymore as I was told at a gamefishing club meeting that they actually sell the tagging info to who ever wants to buy them.
If we do tag fish I do it under protest and put the capture location 5km away.

Hey Pete happy new year mate,
Funnily enough thats the second person thisarvo who has said that to me. Apparently even the japs have access to the information on marlin tagging and use it to judge how many marlin they can take...
i'm going to ring fisheries tomorrow to check up on it, but i guess you probably already have.

hahahaha i hear shark biscut fishers are a bit like that!! although maybe not after that nz great white story..... geez i still cant get over it.
i forgot you liked a dive - the cuttlies do look cool comin up at you!!
and it is a bit of a waste to kill one just for the tentacles when theyre so majestic hey.
keep the squid heads frozen but what ever u do dont let em touch fresh water, then theyll be fine for future use on all those kingies u r gonna catch.....!!!!
and clean up those hoods for the bbq, im getting hungry again just looking at em!
