first fish on blade

hey guys went out with mate again today decided to try for the mythical surface flatties. as we waited for dush to try the surface i tried every lure in my box to try and get some action, it came down to me and my up until now dreaded blade. having never caught a fish on one of these before my confidence was at a low while in my ear was nipper "yeah mate these things are great" me mumering "theses things are s###". all of a sudden bang i was onto my first fish on a blade. was only a small flatty of around 25cm, removed the hooks and next cast a better fish was landed which had swallowed my blade deep and was lucky to land it on 8lb leader rubbing on those lovely teeth. anyway all in all im now hooked on blades and will be down to ballina to buy me some more this week. here are a few pics from the day anyway.

Nice one mate, always good to get a first. A handy tip is to crush the barbs on those little trebles. Flathead looooooooove engulfing them and it just makes getting the lure back so much easier. Keep the tension on and you'll never lose a fish as well. I've always crushed the barbs on my little bream trebles and have never looked back.

Nice mate, that's a good sized Flattie and very fun to catch on light gear with blades

After catching a few Flatties i took Alex's advice, crush the barbs, have a pair of pilers on hand and you'll have no trouble getting your blade/lures back, best thing i ever did
