Hey Guys,

Decided to hit up Sydney Harbour on Saturday to go for some kings. Ended up getting a 65cm kingy on a 4.5ft shimano bigcatch 1-3kg rod. I'm hooked on to these brutes and looking at slaying the big ones ! :headbang:

G'day Jake,

That would have been a fight and a half - caught on plastics, hard body or livies?

Is that rod from the shop "Big Catch" ?

Nice catch

Cheers
Pete.

Yeah, it was a really good fight. I got her on a full pilchard mate. I bought the rod at the Sydney boat show.

Nice King, but you'll definitely know when you hook a big one! May have to upgrade your gear if you want a decent fish stopped.

I've got a much heavier outfit that i take out but i thought i might have some fun on this rod. Hopefully the big brutes stay around.

No worrries champ, there are some beasts around but you will need big squid and baits to get them.

Agreed... god we've been smoked lately... need to up the gear from pe3 to 5 or even 8
the problem seems to be the rats and other pickers... had a foot long calamari emptied in 30 seconds

Indeed, We did see a nice king that would be tipping the 1m mark cruising around but wasn't interested at all with our baits. I'm guessing these brutes would be taking big live squids, slimeys or yakkas...
