Hello..I did carp fishing when I was 9 year old. I miss to catch a few carps now. Is there any carp in that lake?
Also I live in City, is there any good spot for carp fishing that is closer to City?
I do land-based fishing.
Thank You!

I was at the lakes area today and saw the warning signs about not eating the fish .... :eeek:

Years ago they put up shark warning signs and even then it was rumoured to be about a pollution scare more than shark danger.

The post was I guess outside giudelines
And I would agree with the actions taken.

But mitch seems like a very young guy, And at his age I would of been fishing any&everywhere.
So keep your chin up mitch, Just remember that your actions may affect us fishos on a broader scale sometimes, Thats why the Forum has Moderators to police our comments so some Gov't Authority dosen't shut us down. But I for one will put it down for this time as a naive cheeky gesture

But still quinnie you do need to obey the same rules as the rest of us, you just don't yet have to pay for the privelage of holding a lisence to fish....

Mitch....all is good mate, we all make mistakes and all of us except for quinnie(who is still very young) have mucked around and gotten into a little strife (sometimes a lot of strife) years ago like you are now when we were young ...

BTW Quinnie I didn't realise your name was mitch:rolling laughter: :rolling laughter: :rolling laughter:

Hi, I've grown up around the area too. I used to fish at the storm water pipes & along the narrower part of the river there rather than in the open lake/beach areas when I was younger with my dad (Chipping Norton park area near the old house & nearby the kiosk).

The lake is a bream haven & even down towards East Hills you can get bream there too but I haven't fished there for many years. I wouldn't fish near the Flower Power boat ramp because there's just too many snags.

With all the rain we've had I haven't seen any notices about not fishing the lake but as I mentioned I haven't fished it in many years. Liverpool council had warned about toxins from up river being washed down after heavy rains in the past but I used to see people trying to fish at the weir opposite Liverpool train station.

When I was younger & fished the area I used to cast nearby the floating debris & that was a sure catch with bream trailing for a feed. Blood worms are good & you can also collect small crabs amongst rocks for bait. Because the water is murky you could try chicken gut.

I remember one time a friend of ours many years ago reeled in a big mullet. This one was a fighter & he'd gotten loose once before. When it was pulled up there was a few hooks still in its mouth & some had rusted.

If you go to the boat jetty out nearby the old house, I used to remember catching loads of this smaller fish with I think bread or blood worms right under it. There were heaps of them & fun for the kids I guess.

I've fished the creek for carp too opposite Canley Vale station before they cleaned the dense grass around there. There were some pretty big carp in there & I'm sure there's still. We caught them for fun & since the water was dirty it isn't recommended to eat them. You can also catch sight of poddys swimming by in that creek too.
