Just found out ( the hard way ) a couple of things about the site, and thought I would share them in case it happens to any newbys like me who are getting used to the site.

I just spent 10 minutes or so typing out a rather lengthly reply. Submitted the post and it came up with a message, I have too many smilies in the post ( apparently we are limited to 4 ) thats OK now I know I won't do it again, as it told me to go back and remove the extras. I hit the back button and it took me right back to the original topic, ( lost all my typing ).
Also if you don't use at least 10 charactors ( letters ) it won't let you post.

Anymore little things I should learn:1yikes: .

about rep power, once you get rep power you can rate threads by clicking on a part of the tool bar you can then rate on how many stars you give the thread but you can only rate once

Frank, Apologies for that, i have experienced the same loss of text in exactly the same fashion - ie deleting all my smilies.
Frustrating is a polite way of describing it :1yikes:
I have been wading through the admin files to try and find a solution but so far to no avail.
Will keep u posted - we r trying to make things as user friendly as possible!
please let us know of any problems when ever you come across them... :wiink:
Cheers mate

Stef, i have read the reputation sticky that kris made but that doesnt go in depth with it, is there any chance you could make one thta goes through things like rep power, green bars and referalls?

Yep that going back SUCKS i spent 25 or 30 mins typing all the details on A day on the sunny coast thread only to lose it all... Hopefully when we upgrad to a newer version of the forum this will be fixed. Unfortunatley this wont be done until things die down a bit on the fishy front...we could be down for a day or so.
Thanks guys for all your inputs. the forum is now pumping alon.. 38 members on line at the same time and over 600 members
thanks

We used to have this problem, on another site I frequent quiet often.
My advice was to cut & paste any long post before submitting, completely forgot my own advice, and got trapped:nopity: .

Old dogs new tricks:banghead: .

Tom. At least that way, if you do lose what you have written, all you have to do is paste and it's all back there.

Stef. That's another thing I like about this site, the original author can edit his/her post at any time.
Other sites you get 5 mins or so to do it.
The downfall is that if someone says something, that is picked up by another member, the author can then edit his post and deny he/she ever said it, could lead to some interesting conversations:ranting2: .

Bet Tom wished he could do it elseware:hellyeah: .

ha ha ha frank if your refering to my "outbursts" on fishnet i dont really care these forums are alot better and freindlier and ive had some pretty intresting Pm's from the mods on that site suggesting that they might not want me and im fishnets most hated

Tom. If a Moderator of any site said to a member " you are the most hated " it would be very un-professional of them to do so.
A Moderator should set a good example, not a bad one.
Anyhow we will leave it there, we don't want to bring any of Fishnets problems here.
