Quick report - took a coupe of mates out who had never got kings before into the harbour for a bash. Lots of hassle - anchor wouldnt hold - bait hard to get - squid getting picked to pieces - however finally managed to get the pick to hold at 11.30 and got onto some fish. First one mate hooked a decent one but knots failed after a bit of a fight - saw the fish by the boat once or twice - prob 75 or 80cm. then hooked up quite a few fish for the next half hour or so. all rats to 65cm. 6 fish landed (5 kingies and a salmon - all released) and a few more dropped. The boys were stoked. Soon we were out of bait and the wind started to howl. Went and got more bait but no more fish to be found.
Couple of pics of Az with his first king and a sambo.

good on you Stef...I need a flex day soon!
Nice work Stef, isn't it nice to put other people onto fish, rather than bragging about the fish you catch yourself with your mates all the time like some people! My pleasure is always putting new people onto fish or mates that have never caught anything simliar ever. It is the biggest thrill, alot of people go on about how great they themselves are but never want to put their hands up to try and do that for others or get someone that really wants it the fish of a lifetime! I love putting my hand up, and if you fail well at least you tried, but if you succeed, oh the feeling is irreplaceable!!!!

Youre telling me - felt as tho i'd done enough braggin anyway - haha...!
But honestly, seeing the smile on someones face when they get a fish that they've been dreaming of and been frustrated by for a long time, now that is fun.
Mind you doing it without giving away too many of your own hard won spots - thats almost the biggest challenge of all! :icon_smile_wink:
Can only imagine how the charter guys feel!
Btw a mate went snorkelling today at shelly beach - and saw among other things a big school of squid. When the squid saw him they went pure white and turned upside down on the bottom, hoods to the sand and tentacles facing him - in some weird attack position. :eeek:
Spun me out a bit thought it was worth a mention.
Has anyone else seen any weird behaviour like this??
