View Full Version : I think someone is telling Porky Pies
hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can verify a "story" i was told on Wednesday night.
A 30kg Kingfish was caught off the banks near the Spit??
It was caught on a live yakka, i find it a bit hard to believe but if someone can verify i'll eat fish cakes....lol
Also can someone tell me of another boat ramp other than tunks park?? to get to the spit & out to middle harbour, can ppl tell me their opinions on this ramp/facilities?

30kg does seem a bit large for the area, 30lb maybe? still a very good fish for the area i reckon..

i get excited by 15lb'ers :)
30kg Kingfish at the spit, let me see a photo before i come to any conclusions.
in regards to another ramp, there is one at Roseville underneath the bridge. It's a pretty good ramp other than the fact that you have to motor to the pontoon after taking your boat off. It can be tricky at times if the current is running or there is a strong wind blowing. It can fit 3 trailers, has a fish cleaning area and it has a tap to run your engine after a day out. Takes about 15 minutes to get to the spit depending on size of boat/engine. Parking is $7 all day. The only downside is that trailers have been stolen from there.

The last time i heard that a trailer was stolen from Roseville was last summer. Apparently they got to the ramp around 4am and went out and came back at 10am and it was gone. If you go during the day you shouldn't have a problem as there are plenty of people around especially sundays. If you left your trailer overnight then i would look at chaining/clamping the trailer.
You can always launch at Manly and run arround.
Always a few boats on the morings on the south East side of the Spit looking for Kingies.
Gutsy
Cheers blacky,
Ill be down there this sunday at around 5 so all should be good... i do have a trailer lock somewhere but i have no idea where!! :) hope everyone has a great weekend... im sure i will as im fishing!! first time in a while.. :D
Whenever I launch and park my car, I try and get the trailer hard up against a tree, or have the wheels against a gutter or log. With the trailer locked to the towbar, and the tralier wedged so it cant be turned, then it makes it a less likely propostion for theft as it will take too long to get it out.
Showstopper

My tralier is padlocked to the towbar and the jockey wheel is padlocked to the trailer so it can't be shifted.....
So if anyone does get the trailer off they can keep it with the amount of effort needed to get it off the car....
But then again if they steal the car??? :?
i try to do that too joe, back my trailer up hard against the gutter...
