Was out on the dinghy this morning for a few hrs. Water was calm and no wind. Using the usual light Uglystik and 6lb fireline. Got my first kingfish (on a frozen prawn and 2/0 hook!). I tried to stretch him to 60cm, but only managed 58 :frown: , so back in the water he went after a few photos. Also got quite a few snapper - biggest was 28cm. 4 decent bream around 28cm and a 35cm trevally for the plate. Nice morning indeed. Also go busted off, by what felt like another big kingy.
cheers

Top stuff sean = congrats mate!!
Geez that Trev looks like an Amberjack again,
or some wierd Amber/trev/kingy cross - with the wicked yellow stripe down its side.
except for the big pec fins which make it more of a weird trev!!

yea thanks lads, I have caught trevs similiar to that before. Maybe theyre breeding with Kings! Anyway...after filleting and skinning, removing the bloodied flesh from the lateral line, it was beautiful on the frying pan. Just a light dusting of flour, and panfied in butter with salt and pepper.
Stef - not long now to St Patrick's day :)

Hey Seano, good to see you still hauling in those monsters! :shark:! Have you caught any more of those whiting down North Harbour way? I tasted some of those one time and didn't really like them. Maybe they're a special breed or something that are a bit less palatable than your standard whiting. And I hear you have a new boat! Watch the swell through the heads though!!

Good man greenbait! Whiting have been a bit scarce this year, but there's been plenty of action nonetheless. Even hooked my first turtle a couple of weeks ago in N Harbour. That was some sight from the dinghy - thankfully the line went.
Anyway will post a few photos in a new thread of recent adventures in the wee dinghy. Even had yer aul fella out on it and ran out gas!

I got the Sevylor Fish Hunter 280 in Whitworths for $289 plus the accessories. (Oars are not included). They're OK to play with, but you'll probably get fed up patching them up. You need to be rather careful handling flatties and bream with the spikes! I wouldn't recommend buying a brand new one. Thre's always one or 2 on eBay, and they tend to go for half the price.
Also, I noticed today in the new Paul's Warehouse in Balgowlah, they have an inflatable dinghy, with 12v motor included for $599. Seems good value compared to the Sevylor.
