Well I finally got one, a black marlin. After 2 runs and no hookups the 3rd pass hooked up, its great to get the monkey off my back!!!!
It wasnt huge but it was the right species, i reckon it would be around the 30 kg mark, does that sound right judging by the pics?

Funny how out of 5 lures only one was hit right in the middle of the spread 3 times. And on the hookup it would had of had 5 goes at the lure before it really connected.:headbang: :yahoo:

Also hooked up to a dolphin for a while, accidently I can assure you, zoom in on the last pic:wtf: the bastard kept stealing my yakkas

I am at a place called Woombye on the Sunshine Coast, About 30mins from Noosa and we normally launch from Mooloolabah, its close to home and has excelent facilities and no nasty bars to cross.

Definatlyey give me a call when you come up as I am not working until 14 March so if the weather is fair I will be fishing!

The lure was a Williamson 6"pusher with a red black oil slick on the black,
one of my favorite trolling lure colours in any brand. So if you have any in the richter's bring em with you. As for the bluefin I have only had the boat out 3 times so far as the weather has been ****house, all 3 times we were the only boat silly enough to go out, one time was a dud the others got us the marlin and wahoo.

Forgot here is the link to the Billfish formula guide, you can see what length it would have been. Must be measured from fork of tail to the end of the lower jaw. This is called short bill length.
