Left Roseville ramp at 6:15 ,headed to balmoral for yakkas and got 12 in 10 minutes flat!Headed straight to quarantine waverider and couldnt get the damn anchor to hold ( lol ) hate repetetively trying to anchor with audience watching. So went to clifton gardens instead and dropped 2 livies in .....waited... my mate got hit and whatever hit the yakka killed it but no hookup(assume kingie as they were chopping up along the shoreline)
So that was all the luck we had there so headed to Neilsen Park....nothing
then hit the red marker just off south head....nothing then hightailed it to the quarantine waverider again and managed to anchor.dropped livies again ...nothing....chatted to 2 blokes and they showed us a squid that was 45cm long foul hooked on a live yakka rig..they started usin IT as bait in strips and BANG the kingies were on...these 2 then offered us some of this georgeous
fresh bait TOP BLOKES!! and then we were on almost straight away. This
was such a nice thing they did for us.. amazing..hopefully can repay the favour one day.My mate then was able to catch his first ever Kingie 61cm
...Unreal! Saw Des Toms dive out of his boat after a rod wrenched out of a clients hands ...bloody hilarious...great swan dive actually. He climbed back into his boat empty handed and 10 minutes later he somehow jagged the rod and pulled it back up from the depths ......classic....but the fish was gone. Great Day Kingies only eating fresh squid today..

Yeah thought that was you. Pity about the lost king - it looked like a decent fish! Spoke to Des anyway about his diving expedition - the story sounds pretty funny. He dove as deep as he could and could see the rod about a foot below him, but realised then that even if he could have grabbed it he might not have been able to get back up to the surface holding the extra weight of the hooked up king.....!!
Then to top it off when he came up he was 15 or so feet from the boat and as he got to the surface remembered that in the last week there has been heaps of pretty big sharks swimming around that marker stealing kingies and generally being a nuisance!!! Out with him a couple of days before we hooked one up that was completely unstoppable, and apparently almost every day it has been the same.......!
Suffice to say he got back to the boat pretty quick!!
haha
then 10 minutes of jagging the bottom he managed to pick up the outfit, a 6500 baitrunner with a baitrunner rod.
happy days
