I`ll make this quick. Can some tell me (havn`t got time now to search fisheries) If yakkas slimies etc come under a legal bait fish size. reason i ask i because some of my customers are being told by fisheries inspectors that yakkas are not to be used as lives.
now ive used yakkas for years and never heard anything about the above.
Do we need to educate fisheries inspectors? Are the volenteers the problem?

Absolute crap.
There is no restriction on yakkas, size wise. There is a restriction on tailor because they have a minimum, and there is a restriction on mullet, but you are allowed to use a certain number undersize for bait ( live or otherwise)
Mullet are 20 below 15cm for live bait
http://www.fisheries.nsw.gov.au/recreational/saltwater/saltwater/bag_and_size
A maximum daily bag limit of 20 applies to any fish or invertebrate not included in the tables below, except baitfish*.
*Pilchards, whitebait, bluebait, herring, anchovies, yellowtail, jack mackerel, slimy mackerel, garfish, hardyheads, soldier crabs, saltwater nippers and worms, except beach worms which are subject to a bag limit of 20.
Fisheries people get yellowtail and kingfish mixed up.
Amazing as it may seem

thats exactly what i though! Been in the tackle industry for 3 years and have had many people complain about beening told to throw back yakkas.
The only exception to this is that i`m told that in the hawkesbury no live baits bigger than 250g are to be used. (this aslo came from fisheries)
they need some training!

Blimey, they need to watch Greg Joyce's Jewie video
His basic line is the bigger the better as far as liveys go
