View Full Version : Live Fibre Rods
G'day all,
Went to a tackle shop yesterday looking for a Kingy rod and the sales guy said that a live fibre rod was the way to go. I was wondering if anyone currently uses one or these has heard any reports about them. Looks a nice rod and the guy said that they're unbreakable due to the fibre used. He also mentioned a G-Loomis (i think it's called). Does anyone use this rod?
cheers

i have afew, good honest rods that rarely break,... heavier than pure graphite. Known aust wide. you could do alot worse

Yeah depending on which loomis rod it is. They have a lot of models.
Live fibres are a top rod but are a bit to heavy for all day use for me personally, but they are a top notch stick non the less. Loomis can be expensive but you get what you pay for. They do offer a lifetime warranty on the Loomis range and the Loomis replacment scheme is rarely an issue if you have to use it.

I use Wilson rods for my Jew fishing both beach and boat, in Live Fibre and Texalium, they are in my opinion up there with the best before going custom.
I agree mate custom is the way to go. My custom 15-24kg spinning stick is lighter than most 10kg sticks.
Also saw the pic off your yellowfin in the shop. Nice fish mate.

Thanks but it was just a baby, gave me some curry on 8kg, after having my rod holders snapped, and only allowing me to have the drag set at like, 1kg so my rod would not fall out, by the time i cleared the lines and grabbed that rod, the fish was 120m beneath me! Took some work to get up from the depths, plus we had already got a few before that, it made me work for it, thats why i look like i'm struggling holding a baby up! Ha it was funny, guess you had to be there.
yeah I was trying to get a mate out there so we could have a crack but we won't be able to go for at least a week or 2 so they will most likley have moved on. Still get some rats but not in the numbers they were here earlier.

While you are here, the time and date are a fraction out, can you fix it or Kris.
yeah it is. i never noticed. I wonder if this as relating to the prolem of users not being able to log on. I can't fix it but admin users can. Maybe contact kris tomorrow. better still call the bum right now

Wake him up, matter of life and death, tell him i cant sleep until this problem is rectified!
To get back on track...
The Live Fibre Texaliums have a lot of balls, they'd be fine for kings. The only thing I've noticed with them that doesn't suit me is the way they load up so quickly then it's up the the angler to do the rest of the work.
I use Loomis Pelagic rods for my livebaiting, can't fault them at all, and the expediter warranty is very handy for me.
Other rods worth looking at would be some of the Nitro or Shimano T-Curve ranges. Actually the newish Penn Sports range of rods is probably the best option money-wise, it's the same as the old Saber blank.
Thanks guys for your replies. I've decided on buying the Live Fibre Textium 10 to 15kg spinning rod which i'm picking up this arvo. :D
