Welcome to the site, for Sydney harbour i mainly have 3 rods, a bait and bream rod, which is a 2-5kg Rod matched with a 2000 size reel with 6-8lb line on it, it catches my bait/yakkas and bream and squid. The rod length is about 7ft.
My other rod consists of a 4-8kg 8ft rod, with a 4000 size reel with anything from 10-15lb line on it, it catches most of the flatty's, bream, Tailor and Jew also.
My last is a beach rod 12ft, 8-10kg, with a 6000 size reel or equivalent, with 20lb line on it, and it catches most Jews and sharks and rays.
Make sure you catch your own bait, it will outfish bought frozen bait most of the time.
