Cuttlefish are great bait for kings, and also they don't live a long life, they die out at sea and flow back, and big snapper hang around them and feed off them.

i hit quarantine buoy on monday, got my yakkas first and then anchored at the buoy.I caught a cuttlefish that was about 45 -50 cm ,and felt heavy,on a yakka. There was a guy there catching kingies on fresh squid(i wasnt havin any luck on the yakkas....little buggers were tangling me up on the reef).so i kept the cuttlefish and gave this guy a good portion of it too(after it had painted my blue boat black with ink..and me too).Almost 5 mns after dropping down a tentacle i was on to a 64cm king..he said to me he hadnt bought bait in 3 years as he always gets squid but cuttlefish was just as good..i then got a 58 cm and hoiked him back.Kept the rest for the next session wrapped in paper and then in a cliptop sandwich bag.
