Hi Guys,
I have just bought my first home, a nice little flat in erskineville... I was wondering if anyone in the area knows where i can go for a fish land based?? i would be keen on anything, but somewhere i could find squid, and chase kings and jews would be rad... I was thinking of trying some spots off a park in glebe which has a wharf that you can see when going over the anzac bridge.. anyone tried around here before?? Any tips and advice would be much appreciated... P.S- no eating the fish outta here tho hey ??

I used to fish around Federal Park (the park to the south of Anzac Bridge) and got a few bream in close to the rockwall. Nothing spectacular but I didn't spend much time there. I haven't fished there for a while too. You can get kings around Pyrmont so they'd have to cruise around there as well.
Fish the mouth of the canal on a run out tide as well, sometimes there are a few fish hanging around there waiting for food to flow out. I picked up a few flatties there. Just remember to cover plenty of ground if you're flicking lures. The fish could be anywhere so walk up and down and cover fresh ground until you find them. And the water there is pretty scummy, so yeah I wouldn't eat bream, whiting and other fish that don't move much. Rozelle and that area was pretty industrial. Kings would probably be ok though, as with salmon and other fish that move around a fair bit.

Dude, I live in Newtown you need to go over to Maroubra or little beach north bondi? Hell, Erko is only 8km from bronte beach. Get amongst it on the southern beaches.

Thanks for the tips...
Hey Bass, when you need a fishen buddy, let me know, would be keen to be shown some areas around there too.. I have fished little bay etc, but yeah i was thinking that cause my missus lives in rozelle, i can always go there on the way home or sumthen.. (not that either are too far from erskineville) i was thinking of only bringing a few rods to my place, 1 boat rod. 1 estuary bait rod. I SP bream rod. and i guess now i should also bring along my 12 footer? leaving the bulk in avalon at the parents place, along with most of my boat stuff and bigger stuff, and my boat..

Hama, try glebe forshore all the way from the Canal to the. Boatshed.
Big bream on light line & Bread every 10 m or so.The canal is full of large Bream & Blackies on a high tide, very light line 2kg max & bread or weed. Balmain E wharf has Bream, Jew & Kings (sometimes) & the odd squid at night as does the old shipping wharf to the left of the Ferry wharves.this Bay leading to Longnose Pt also produces Jew & Kingys and the usual other sp. The Old Glebe Is. Bridge is a great place for Jew,if you can avoid the security around here.Good luck & I hope this helps.
